As a member of the Tax Practice Group, William Pilling counsels investment companies and their advisers on taxation of commingled funds and financial products including:
• taxation of investment partnerships
• offshore funds
• regulated investment companies under Subchapter M of the Internal Revenue Code
Mr. Pilling also provides tax counsel to “S” corporations, personal holding companies, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, limited liability companies and tax-exempt organizations. In addition, he advises U.S. corporations on structuring and taxation of their foreign operations. He also does tax planning for individuals.
Mr. Pilling was included in the 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2007 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, regarded as a definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States. Selection for Best Lawyers is based on a peer-review survey in which more than 1.8 million individual evaluations are reviewed.
Mr. Pilling was a lecturer in law at Villanova University’s Graduate Tax Program (Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders and Business Planning) and has authored numerous articles. Mr. Pilling was chair of Stradley Ronon’s Tax Practice Group from 1986-1997.
