As of counsel in Stradley Ronon’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Kim Jessum focuses her practice in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters. She represents chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients in both intellectual property litigation and transactional matters.
Ms. Jessum’s experience includes:
• preparing and negotiating license, secrecy, joint development and technology-transfer agreements
• developing and implementing patent strategies
• writing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications in the areas of chemical, medical device, pharmaceutical, business method and mechanical technologies
• providing freedom to operate, noninfringement and invalidity opinions
• managing U.S. and international patent portfolios, including performing technology evaluation and assessment
• performing intellectual property due-diligence reviews and analyses
• handling all aspects of intellectual property litigation
Ms. Jessum is a frequent author and lecturer on intellectual property issues. She serves as co-chair of the Green Ribbon Task Force of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the CLE officer of the American Bar Association (ABA) IP Litigation Section and as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Technology and Information Systems. She was also named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer® in 2010 by a vote of her peers.
Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, Ms. Jessum served as patent counsel for Rohm and Haas Company, a public multi-national chemicals manufacturing company, where she counseled clients on all patent and trade secret issues. She also was an intellectual property associate at another Philadelphia law firm.PERSONAL
Before attending law school, Ms. Jessum worked as a process design engineer at Foster Wheeler USA Corporation in Clinton, N.J., where she participated in the design of chemical plants and petroleum refineries. Read full bio » |
