As a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Kevin Goldstein represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, as well as the enforcement and defense of claims related to intellectual property rights. He also counsels business entities and individuals in a variety of complex transactional matters relating to the acquisition, enforcement, and defending of intellectual property claims.

Mr. Goldstein has represented clients on a wide spectrum of matters, including:

• drafting and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, with a concentration in the patent technical arts of mechanical, electrical, computer systems and business methods

• drafting intellectual property opinions, including patent and trademark infringement and non-infringement opinions, and patent validity and invalidity opinions

• handling intellectual property due-diligence reviews and analyses

• handling of intellectual property litigation proceedings in federal and state courts as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Mr. Goldstein is the current chair of the Journal Committee of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. He was the past section chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Goldstein was included in the 2011 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, regarded as a definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States.

Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, Mr. Goldstein was a shareholder at an IP boutique law firm, where he was a member of the litigation, patent prosecution, trademark, copyright and appellate practice groups. Mr. Goldstein was the managing shareholder of that firm’s Wilmington, Del., Office.

PERSONAL

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Goldstein was a senior aerospace design engineer at Boeing Helicopters, in Ridley, Pa., primarily assisting in the design of fixed and rotary wing flight-control systems, including the fly-by-wire control system for the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor. Prior to Boeing, he was an aerospace engineer at the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, Pa. As an engineer, Mr. Goldstein developed experience in, and an understanding of, systematically addressing complex technical and engineering problems. He uses this practical experience to effectively counsel technical and business clients in the development of, and use of, their intellectual property portfolios.
