This course will discuss basic bankruptcy steps, including explanation of different chapters under which a debtor may file, impact of the automatic stay on creditors, the players in a bankruptcy and the proof of claim. The course will also address the impact of bankruptcy on executory contracts and unexpired leases and the possibility of avoidance actions being filed against creditors of the debtor. Finally, the course will cover the sale of assets in a bankruptcy and the impact of the debtor’s discharge on creditors.
