| "Chester County Lowers 2009 Tax Hike" November 13, 2008
Val DiGiorgio is quoted in this article on Chester County's proposed 2009 budget and tax relief.
Controller Valentino F. DiGiorgio III said that in this real estate market, the county was getting more for its open-space dollar than it was a year ago.
"It will be cheaper to buy an [agricultural] easement now than in 2007," he said.
Although it is too late for this year, DiGiorgio also said the county should look at bringing in a firm to operate Pocopson Home, the county's skilled-nursing facility, a move he said could save money. Subsidies to Pocopson will be almost $4 million in 2009.
