| “To Jump or Not to Jump On the Merger Bandwagon” November 20, 2006 Stradley Ronon Chairman William R. Sasso was quoted in this article regarding the recent whirlwind of law firm mergers in Philadelphia.
Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young Chairman William R. Sasso said his firm has avoided any need for a merger, in part, through the firm’s specialized practice representing financial institutions in the areas of banks, insurance companies and mutual funds. The practice allows the firm to obtain national clients while remaining regional in geography, he said.
“I don’t feel that pressure at all to merge our firm,” he said.
The firm considers itself regional, but reconsiders its strategic plan often, Sasso said. To date, he said the firm has felt no need to move beyond the regional model.
“I’ve been hearing about the death of the regional firm for 20 years,” he said, adding that many are still “alive and healthy.”
