Training . . .

At Stradley Ronon, we believe in active training – doing, observing and participating – from day one. Our thorough orientation program eases the transition to Stradley Ronon – whether you are arriving fresh out of law school or are joining us as a lateral. Our training curriculum focuses on three areas:

• Soft skills training – such as marketing and business development, time management and presentation skills.

• Core legal competencies – such as advanced legal writing seminars, negotiations training and accounting for lawyers.

• Practice-specific training – for example, deposition practice and e-discovery for litigators, or contract drafting and financing techniques for business lawyers.

Our firm is filled with excellent lawyers who act as mentors, trainers and advisors, sharing their knowledge to help every Stradley Ronon lawyer develop and grow. In addition to using our internal resources, we hire consultants to broaden the knowledge base of our attorneys.

Mentoring . . .

Stradley Ronon believes wholeheartedly in mentoring and the value it adds to attorney development. Our formal Mentoring Program is designed to provide consistency and a rewarding experience for mentors and mentees alike. Mentors work closely with their mentees in order to assist them with developing core legal skills and with their transition into the firm. Each first- and second-year associate is paired with a partner or senior associate in their practice group who serves as a mentor – all mentors are trained by an outside consultant. Each mentor/mentee pair participates in an orientation to review the program’s objectives and to share expectations. Scheduled mentor/mentee meetings are required and monitored by Dave Joseph, our mentoring partner. In addition to this formal mentoring program, informal mentoring relationships are also strongly encouraged.

Evaluations . . .

Every January, the associate compensation and evaluation (ACE) committee solicits evaluations from supervising attorneys to assess each associate’s and of counsel’s performance. Each associate and of counsel also completes a self-evaluation as part of the process. The ACE committee then provides associates and of counsel with comprehensive written feedback regarding their performance during the year. Each evaluation also details the committee’s assessment of strengths and recommendation for goals for the upcoming evaluation year. First-year associates are provided with interim evaluations after their first six months of employment.

Compensation & Benefits . . .

Compensation for first-year associates is $135,000. Salary adjustments are made annually based on merit. Discretionary bonuses are awarded for exceeding billable hour targets and business generation, as well as for extraordinary contributions to the firm.

The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package to all attorneys.
