As co-chair of Stradley Ronon’s finance & restructuring practice group, Mitch Brand provides legal representation to hedge funds, private equity firms, commercial finance companies, banks, and other institutional and individual investors on a wide range of matters, including general corporate lending; leveraged finance; structured finance; asset-based and cash flow lending; second- lien, mezzanine and unitranche loans; debtor-in-possession financings; Chapter 11 exit financings; debt restructurings; and loan workouts. The transactions Mitch has handled have been for working capital or acquisitions, have involved assets in other countries, and have been structured as asset-based or cash flow facilities. He represents clients in a variety of industries, including energy, oil and gas; health care and hospitals; manufacturers and distributors of steel, automotive parts, chemicals, consumer products and apparel; record, book and video distributors; retailers; retail and wholesale grocery and food distributors; agricultural suppliers; government contractors; airlines; life insurance; finance companies; shipping, package and cargo delivery companies; and telecommunications.
Mitch also represents hedge funds, private equity firms and family offices in special situations dealing with side pocket investments, illiquid or troubled debt and/or equity investments, restructuring distressed equity and/or debt transactions, acquisition financing, and distressed debt investing. In addition, he counsels clients regarding partner disputes and investor redemptions; conducts fraud investigations; and advises with respect to bankruptcy matters, including purchase of assets, bankruptcy financing and claim purchases.
During law school, Mitch was the editor-in-chief of the Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law.
