Jana Landon is founder and chair of Stradley Ronon’s e-discovery team. Her practice focuses on advising lawyers and clients on data security and data management issues and legal, technical and strategic issues regarding electronic discovery and information governance. Jana brings real-world, practical trial experience to all of her representations. She has litigated insurance, commercial and complex tort matters in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies, and before arbitration panels.

Jana speaks and writes frequently on data security, e-discovery, and information governance best practices. She is an online columnist for The Legal Intelligencer, an active member in the Philadelphia chapter of Women in E-Discovery, and serves as an arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

  • acted as e-discovery counsel for all phases of a multiyear products liability action that required productions/coordination in several jurisdictions, both state and federal
  • acted as e-discovery counsel for a plaintiff in a multimillion restrictive covenant action involving former employees’ data
  • represented investment advisers in several SEC investigations and information requests
  • crafted a HIPAA-compliant information governance policy for a multinational company, incorporating international data standards
  • obtained a significant decision from a federal judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissing a “bad faith” claim brought by insureds
  • tried an insurance action stemming from the denial of insurance benefits for a mental health care treatment in front of the Maryland Department of Insurance, securing a favorable decision for her client
  • represented insurers in Hurricane Sandy property owner actions in the Eastern District of New York and the District of New Jersey, which included coordinating e-data for all pending matters
  • acted as a forensic expert in a restrictive covenant action involving sensitive sales data
  • acted as counsel for products liability actions consolidated in Philadelphia’s mass tort program
  • acted as in-house counsel for a major financial services provider and handled issues related to its life and disability insurance practice
  • spearheaded a large-scale investigation for an international financial services client, provided closure of customer claims and coordinated and resolved all related federal government enforcement actions
