Ranan Well focuses his practice on a broad range of corporate and financing matters, and represents public and private clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, joint ventures and debt financings. Ranan’s clients span numerous industries, including financial services, health care, food, hospitality and professional services.

In addition, Ranan has significant experience in investment management transactions and works closely with Stradley Ronon’s investment management group in connection with advising sponsors in the formation of private investment funds; negotiating side letters on behalf of investors seeking to invest in private investments funds; mutual fund adoptions and mergers of registered investment companies; and purchasing and selling registered investment advisers.

  • a large mutual fund complex in its agreement with a registered investment adviser to acquire equity and bond mutual funds with approximately $3.6 billion in assets 
  • a registered investment adviser in the sale of its business to a global investment manager 
  • a registered investment adviser in its acquisition of the portion of the business of an asset manager relating to the management of 11 mutual funds, and the reorganization of such funds into funds managed by the registered investment adviser 
  • an established asset manager in its acquisition of the portion of the business of an investment manager relating to the management of eight mutual funds 
  • a global asset management firm and an international law firm in connection with the sale of all of their interests in a wealth management firm to an affiliate of a financial services holding company 
  • an affiliate of a financial services holding company in its purchase of a provider of retirement plan and personal trust services 
  • a private equity firm focused on the asset management industry in the acquisition of a minority stake in a fund of hedge funds manager 
  • the chief executive (primary founding member) in the formation of a joint venture with an affiliate of a leading investment firm for the purpose of engaging in the investment advisory, investment management and wealth management businesses
