Reading, ‘Riting and ‘Rithmetic. The “Three Rs” that are the fundamental building blocks in education. Staying “cyber educated” in the technology age requires attorneys to be familiar with a distinct “Three R’s”: Resilience, Risk, and Response. This session and accompanying paper will examine the current state of cyber risk and emerging exposures and provide proven strategies that attendees can use to effectively become cyber resilient, both in their practices in counseling clients of all sizes and industry verticals, as well as in their own law firms. Additionally, the panel will highlight proven risk transfer strategies in light of the current state of the cyber insurance market, as well as a review of emerging cyber insurance coverage jurisprudence. Finally, the panel will provide the tools for an effective cyber incident response, covering the spectrum from “front-end” planning and preparedness to post-incident considerations, with an emphasis on law firm security data protection standards provided by Jana Landon, a member of the Sedona Conference’s Law Firm Data Security Drafting Team.
