Course Description:
This is an interactive workshop that will teach you the basics of how to mediate a court case. (Additional training will be required for you to qualify to be on a court mediation roster.) Using role-plays and interactive demonstrations participants will act as mediators to learn the art of mediation.
Key aspects of mediation will be highlighted including:
- The differences between mediation and arbitration/adjudication
- The unique role of the mediator
- How to maintain your neutrality
- Confidentiality in mediation
- Shuttle diplomacy and creating options to settle the case
