PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon Chairman William R. Sasso was named a recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Outstanding Directors Awards 2015 for his work with Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia. The awards honor Philadelphia-area directors who “regularly make impactful decisions that affect major companies and nonprofits.”

Sasso helped found Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to low-income Philadelphia families for children in K-8th grade to attend the private school of their choice. Currently, over 5,000 students are on scholarship, and 90% of the funds raised are utilized to fulfill its mission. In addition to serving on the board of directors, Sasso offered Stradley Ronon’s legal advice pro bono when the organization’s funding stream changed, and has introduced the nonprofit to many corporate and foundation funders.

Sasso has served as chairman of Stradley Ronon’s 200-plus-attorney firm since 1994. Outside of his legal practice, he is widely recognized for his civic accomplishments, including serving as chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, a commissioner of the Delaware River Port Authority, and as a trustee of Leo Niessen Jr. Charitable Foundation. Sasso has also received numerous recognitions and awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Legal Intelligencer and recognition as one of the “23 Most Influential Business People in Philadelphia” by the Philadelphia Business Journal – the only lawyer in private practice to be so recognized.
