Stradley Ronon Attorneys to Speak at Hedge Fund Startup Forum

PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon attorneys Peter M. HongPrufesh R. Modhera and Peter Tsirigotis will speak at The Hedge Fund Startup Forum: The Forum for the Next Generation of Hedge Fund Managers in New York on March 26. Hong and Modhera, both partners in Stradley Ronon’s nationally recognized investment management practice group, will be panelists for “The Regulation of Startup Hedge Funds,” where they will discuss gaining investor trust, understanding the basics of current hedge fund regulation, Blue Sky laws and dealing with the SEC. Tsirigotis, counsel in Stradley Ronon’s investment management practice group, will be a panelist on “The Experiences of Recent Startups: Lessons Learnt & Pitfalls to Avoid,” where he and co-panelists will discuss issues including picking a fund structure and domicile, choosing partners, raising capital and gaining investment, and finding the correct marketing message.

This is the inaugural Hedge Fund Startup Forum in New York. Similar conferences last year in London and Zurich attracted more than 350 emerging and startup managers.

Hong uses his many years of service at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to guide clients through the various regulatory requirements concerning financial services and products. His practice includes the registration and regulation of investment advisers, broker-dealers, commodity trading advisors, commodity pool operators, and introducing brokers under federal and state laws, as well as the formation and ongoing compliance obligations of registered and private investment companies.

Modhera is a proactive and practical adviser to investment management clients on federal securities law matters. His practice includes counseling sponsors and investment advisers in forming and structuring private investment funds including domestic and offshore hedge funds, funds of hedge funds and private equity funds. His practice also includes counseling investment companies, investment advisers and independent directors on complex securities law issues arising under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940. He also assists in responding to SEC inquiries and provides advice to boards of directors on various governance issues.

Tsirigotis, who joined Stradley Ronon from Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., provides legal advice to financial institutions, asset managers and investment advisers to help them develop and maintain financial products while navigating the regulatory landscape. He brings to each client representation a unique perspective on the financial services industry, having served in several senior-level legal, compliance, operations and risk roles, including as regulator (SEC), chief legal officer, outside counsel, chief compliance officer and chief operating officer.
