Bennett G. Picker has been appointed by the International Mediation Institute as a representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. ECOSOC engages a wide variety of stakeholders – policymakers, parliamentarians, academics, major groups, foundations, business sector representatives and registered non-governmental organizations – in a productive dialogue on sustainable development. Picker will be working with a U.N. taskforce promoting a culture of mediation within nations and internationally. The IMI, a nonprofit organization seeking to promote dispute resolution worldwide, has been granted special nongovernmental organization consultative status with the United Nations.
Picker is a full-time mediator and arbitrator. He is a Fellow of both the International Academy of Mediators and the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is also the author of Mediation Practice Guide: A Handbook For Resolving Business Disputes, 2nd Edition, published in 2003 by the ABA Section on Dispute Resolution.
