George Michael Gerstein Presents on the State of ERISA and its Future at National Society of Compliance Professionals’ National Conference

PHILADELPHIA – George Michael Gerstein, co-chair of Stradley Ronon’s fiduciary governance group, presented at the National Society of Compliance Professionals’ National Conference on Oct. 22 in Baltimore. The National Society of Compliance Professionals is a nonprofit, membership organization dedicated to serving and supporting the compliance professional in the financial services industry. 

Gerstein’s panel, “ERISA: Now and into the Future,” examined hot button issues and trends under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), including the evolving nature of litigation against plan fiduciaries, best practices regarding rollovers, the fluidity of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, key considerations of private investment vehicles, the QPAM Exemption, collective investment trusts and governmental plan compliance.

Gerstein advises financial institutions on the fiduciary and prohibited transaction provisions of ERISA. As co-chair of the fiduciary governance group, he assists clients with tracking, and understanding, the numerous fiduciary developments at the federal and state levels, including the rules and regulations of governmental plans. Gerstein also advises clients with respect to the fiduciary duty implications of ESG investing.
