Firm News
PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon attorneys Kristin J. Jones and Mischa Wheat spoke at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) KnowledgeNet Chapter Meeting on Oct. 15 hosted at the firm’s Philadelphia office. The panel, “A Practical Guide to CCPA Readiness,” covered the California Consumer Privacy Act final amendments, the top concerns from clients and organizational standard operating procedures.

Jones advises clients in data privacy and security matters, working to protect clients before and after a cyber incident – from preparing privacy and security policies to swift guidance on responding to a data breach. She understands the evolving security threats and the importance of protecting health information maintained by her clients. In addition to her client work, Jones serves as chief privacy officer for the firm, and is responsible for protecting the firm’s data – including information received from our clients – from unauthorized users.

Wheat advises clients across multiple industries on cybersecurity issues, focusing on data breach investigation and response. By maintaining a working knowledge of cyber threat actors, the cyber threat landscape, and common data privacy vulnerabilities, as well as the current legislative and regulatory schemas, he is able to assist clients in establishing best practices, as well as providing guidance through a breach event. Wheat has assisted in multiple investigations into breach events, establishing the scope of breach, determining whether notification to affected individuals or State or Federal regulators is required, and providing that notification.
