Black History Month: “Hip-Hop Music and Black Culture”

This week, Stradley Ronon celebrated Black History Month by welcoming Temple University Professor Timothy Welbeck to discuss the history, artistry and influence of hip-hop music on American culture.
“I usually listen to music as background noise, but Dr. Welbeck’s presentation highlighted hip-hop music’s hidden language and history and emphasized how artists communicate their messages and why truly listening to lyrics reveals the richness of the art,” said associate Avery Marz, member of the firm’s Black and African American engagement group, Black Stradlians United.
