SEC Could Clear CEFs’ Path to Private Equity – And Drag Boards In

Big changes may be ahead: The SEC indicated that they are considering expanding co-investment relief to better accommodate private equity in closed-end funds — a change that would make it easier to offer private equity strategies in ’40 Act products.
Nicole Simon, partner and chair of the firm’s retail alternative funds practice, shared her perspective with BoardIQ: “We hear a lot of messaging from the top of the SEC that they are open for business and want to engage in these discussions, but a lot remains to be done in putting details around a solution that everyone is comfortable with.”
