Mac Laban counsels investment companies, investment advisers and independent directors on regulatory matters related to:

  • launching new open- and closed-end mutual funds, including interval funds;
  • fund reorganizations;
  • launching new ETFs and ETF platforms;
  • annual updates;
  • governance and fiduciary duties;
  • compliance policies and procedures; and
  • SEC investigations

Prior to joining the firm, Mac worked in market regulation at ICE Futures U.S., where he routinely analyzed trader and broker activity and investigated misconduct on ICE’s energy futures and options markets.

While in law school, Mac interned for a Fortune 500 investment management company and a proprietary trading firm. He also externed for the Illinois Attorney General’s Tax Crimes Unit, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Hon. Thomas M. Durkin of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
