Jana Landon co-chairs Stradley’s Data Breach Response and Cyber Insurance teams. Her practice focuses on advising organizations of all sizes in multiple industry sectors on data breach response, data security and data management issues. Jana also provides regulatory compliance services and assists clients in policy/procedure preparation, tailored by the client’s specific risks and governing laws.

Representative Matters

  • acted as data breach counsel for nonprofit organization after credit card data was hacked at vendor, handling all aspects of representation including reporting to agencies, credit monitoring setup, and customer notification 
  • advised clients on privacy issues involving EU retail websites
  • advised clients on best practices for use of e-signatures
  • represented investment advisers in several SEC investigations and information requests
  • crafted a HIPAA-compliant information governance policy for a multinational company, incorporating international data standards
  • obtained a significant decision from a federal judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissing a “bad faith” claim brought by insureds
  • represented insurers in Hurricane Sandy property owner actions in the Eastern District of New York and the District of New Jersey, which included coordinating e-data for all pending matters
  • acted as a forensic expert in a restrictive covenant action involving sensitive sales data
  • acted as in-house counsel for a major financial services provider and handled issues related to its life and disability insurance practice
  • spearheaded a large-scale investigation for an international financial services client, provided closure of customer claims and coordinated and resolved all related federal government enforcement actions
