Course Description:
This CLE session explores how emotional intelligence—especially empathy—remains a vital core competency in a legal environment increasingly shaped by generative AI. As automation takes on more cognitive and research tasks, client value will hinge on uniquely human skills such as judgment, persuasion, empathy, and trust.

Through interactive discussion, live polling, and a hands-on exercise using Gen AI tools participants will reflect on how AI and EQ intersect in daily legal work. We’ll compare AI-generated and human-authored legal communication, assess areas where empathy and nuance create value, and build personal “Gen AI Early-Adopter Plans” for use in client-facing or internal roles.

Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to integrate AI tools into their workflows without compromising the human-centered qualities that define great lawyering.
