Stradley Ronon Senior Counsel Sam Arena Joins Insurance Law Panel at Penn Carey Law School Workshop

PHILADELPHIA — Stradley Ronon senior counsel Samuel Arena spoke on the “Insurance Law 101” panel at the Penn Carey Law School Insurance Law Association Workshop held on March 17, 2026 in Philadelphia.
Sam and the other panelists discussed their experiences and careers in insurance law and the roles insurance plays in litigation strategy, business and personal transaction structuring and attorneys’ own professional risk management. Other topics included the continued importance and relevance of insurance in today’s world; and the range of possible career opportunities for attorneys who are knowledgeable in insurance and insurance law.
It is the Penn Carey Law School Insurance Law Association’s mission to raise awareness of and build lasting interest in insurance law through dialogue that links students, practitioners and academics across disciplines. The Association seeks to empower Penn Law students to discover how insurance law shapes commerce, risk and everyday life, and to make insurance law accessible, engaging and forward-looking by creating opportunities for students to connect, learn and collaborate.
Sam has spent more than four decades at Stradley Ronon, focusing his practice on insurance law and fidelity and surety law. He is a past chair of the American Bar Association Fidelity and Surety Law Committee (FSLC) and a recipient of the FSLC’s Martin J. Andrew Award for Lifetime Achievement in Fidelity and Surety Law. Sam has represented insurance companies across the United States in all phases of complex insurance coverage, extracontractual liability and fidelity and surety matters.
