WASHINGTON — Stradley Ronon partner Jan Folena, co-chair of the securities and regulatory enforcement practice, served as a panelist at the Investment Company Institute (ICI)'s Compliance, Risk, and Legal Conference for the session, “Backstage Pass to Compliance: Now What?”
Hosted September 15-17 in Nashville, Tennessee, and designed for compliance, risk management and legal professionals, this inaugural ICI event focused on translating regulatory expectations into practical, day-to-day execution. The conference delivered industry insights and provided actionable guidance on meeting legal and regulatory requirements, strengthening governance frameworks, navigating examinations, and preparing for emerging risks facing the asset management industry.
Jan’s September 16 panel offered practical guidance for compliance professionals, focusing on Investment Company Act of 1940 fundamentals; what fund and adviser compliance programs look like in day‑to‑day operations; and the routines, documentation and partnerships that help keep those programs running smoothly.
Jan focuses her practice on assisting firms and individuals in navigating internal investigations, regulatory enforcement matters, commercial disputes and, when necessary, arbitration, mediation and trial. She also represents clients in congressional inquiries, before state regulators and in third-party litigation.
