Andrew Young
Named Partner
Joining the firm shortly after the three founders, named partner Andrew Young focused his practice on tax and estates law. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1931. He served in the Army Surgeon General’s Office from 1942 to 1945.
Notably, Andy served as the individual lawyer who drafted the registration statement for the Wellington Fund, which was established in 1928 as the first balanced mutual fund in the United States and is one of the oldest surviving mutual funds. Andy, an architect of the mutual fund practice and securities group at Stradley Ronon, also participated in the U.S. Senate hearings on the Investment Company Act of 1940, the law that regulates investment funds. He helped the firm grow from a three-lawyer partnership into a firm of more than 300 lawyers and business professionals.
Active in the tax industry, he was a lecturer on tax and finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and held leadership positions on the American Bar Association’s tax section and Philadelphia Bar Association’s tax committee. He also served as president of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
