PHILADELPHIA — Stradley Ronon partner Richard Peterson recently served as a panelist at the annual Smart Business Dealmakers Conference on “State and Local Taxes: Avoiding Hidden M&A Costs and Complications.” The conference, hosted September 11 in Philadelphia, connected thousands of local dealmakers, including middle-market CEOs, investors, lenders and M&A advisers.
During his session, for which Stradley Ronon served as presenter, Rich shared strategies to identify and address state and local tax (SALT) risks in M&A transactions. He offered attendees guidance for identifying potential red flags early on, preparing the right documentation, and anticipating what buyers and their advisers might scrutinize.
Rich advises on partnership tax planning, including the structuring of U.S. and global investment capital funds of all types, and advises potential investors. Rich has been involved in significant corporate transactions and divestitures, including taxable and tax-free transactions with both asset and stock acquisitions. Rich is also well versed in tax litigation, covering all aspects of IRS controversy work, from audits and appeals work through litigation before the U.S. Tax Court.
