Summer Associate Program

Our summer associates are given a multifaceted, immersive experience with introductions to a wide variety of practices and industries, pro bono and community service opportunities, invaluable feedback from dedicated mentors, and an in-depth look into life at Stradley Ronon. We maintain a smaller summer class size than many of our competitors to provide a more bespoke and hands-on experience, and rely on the program as our main pipeline for hiring first-year associates.

Assignments

Essentially treated as first-year associates, our summer associates receive the same level of work, guidance and direction from supervising lawyers. In addition to traditional research and writing assignments, summer associates frequently participate in court appearances, closings, depositions, case strategy meetings, client meetings and more. Summer associates receive real-time feedback, both formal and informal, directly from supervising lawyers.

A highlight of our program, summer associates in Philadelphia can receive assignments from any of our practice areas, providing an opportunity to explore their interests and carve their own path.

Mentorship

Mentorship is at the core of a career at Stradley Ronon. Each summer associate is assigned a mentor who provides guidance on everything from assignments to juggling event schedules to fostering the mentee’s integration into the firm. They check in regularly to review written evaluations and to provide substantive feedback. To help them acclimate to the firm, summer associates are assigned hosts, who provide useful resources and additional insight into the firm’s culture and associate life.

Social Events

Our summer program calendar is filled with social events to help our summer associates build relationships with one another, with our people, and with the communities in which we live.

Application Process

Our hiring philosophy is simple: We want smart, ambitious, accomplished students eager to deliver high-caliber work and contribute to the culture of the firm. We tailor our interview process to probe for the behaviors and mindset we see in our most successful associates.
