PHILADELPHIA — Following more than 15 years of service with the Uniform Law Commission (ULC), Stradley Ronon partner Lisa Jacobs was elected as the commission’s 58th president on July 23. She will serve a two-year term.

The ULC, also known as the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, provides states with nonpartisan, well-drafted legislation to bring clarity and stability to key areas of state statutory law. Members include appointed representatives from all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In her role as president, Lisa’s leadership and legal acumen will help shape the future of uniform state laws on a national scale. She will also serve as a liaison to the American Bar Association, the Uniform Law Conference of Canada and other organizations.

Most recently, Lisa served as chair of the ULC’s executive committee, beginning in 2023, and was chair of the ULC’s Committee on Scope and Program for the immediately preceding two years. After serving in several advisory capacities to ULC drafting committees since 2008, Lisa was appointed as a ULC commissioner in 2012. While her substantive focus has generally been on acts in business organization and commerce-oriented areas (such as the Uniform Limited Liability Company Act, Uniform Limited Partnership Act, and Uniform Commercial Code), she has also served in areas such as the Registration of Canadian Money Judgments Act and privacy-related acts.
