David Scott is a skilled civil litigator who has litigated hundreds of cases from inception to conclusion in courts throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has obtained several multimillion-dollar results on behalf of individuals, real estate developers and construction contractors through both settlement and jury verdict.
Dave focuses his practice on all aspects of civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. He is well versed in handling major commercial litigation involving construction disputes, insurance coverage and bad-faith claims, breach of contract actions, civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act claims, fiduciary duty claims and general business disputes.
He also frequently litigates a broad variety of claims ranging from professional malpractice claims and creditors’ rights matters to alleged Wiretap Act violations. Dave represents clients through all stages of litigation including settlement agreements, mediations, arbitrations, trial and appeal.
Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, David practiced at a boutique commercial litigation law firm in Philadelphia.
Featured Representative Matters
Obtained a jury verdict for over $1.7 million after a seven-day trial against all nine defendants in a civil RICO action that, when adjusted for mandatory treble damages and attorney fees, resulted in a judgment in excess of $6 million.
Obtained a favorable settlement following arbitration on behalf of the plaintiff in an insurance coverage claim concerning flood coverage and exclusions for flood zones.
Obtained separate settlements from each of multiple defendants in a tortious interference and breach of contract suit involving a sale of real estate for land development.
Successfully defended against a statute of limitations defense and obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of the plaintiff in a legal malpractice action where the negligent conduct took place more than 30 years prior to suit being filed.
Favorably settled four related actions concerning domestic violence and alleged Pennsylvania Wiretap Act violations after four days of a jury trial.
Obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of a plaintiff against a neighboring property owner whose neglect of their property damaged the plaintiff’s property.
