NEW YORK — Stradley Ronon managing counsel Whitney Costin received a Celebrate Pro Bono Award from the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) on October 20. The annual awards are hosted by NYCLA with the New York Unified Court System Office of Justice Initiatives and the New York State Bar Association to celebrate and honor outstanding pro bono volunteers.
Whitney was recognized for her work with and commitment to the Social Security SDNY Project, which provides free representation to individuals appealing their denial of benefits in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York. The program works in partnership with the SDNY Pro Se Office to connect those who file civil actions with volunteer lawyers through NYCLA. Whitney recently led a Stradley Ronon team in securing Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits on behalf of a combat veteran, including retroactive payments to be made to the client.
At Stradley Ronon, Whitney advises clients on a wide array of litigation matters, focusing primarily on reinsurance and insurance disputes. She has represented global insurance and reinsurance companies in major contract and other disputes, as well as Fortune 500 and startup companies in complex business disputes across an array of industries.
