WASHINGTON, D.C. — Stradley Ronon partner Sara Crovitz, co-chair of the firm’s investment management practice, and partner Jan Folena, co-chair of the firm’s securities and regulatory enforcement practice, served as speakers at the 2026 Investment Company Institute (ICI) Investment Management Conference.
Sara’s session, “The Atkins Agenda: What’s Next for the SEC,” unpacked the practical implications of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins’ regulatory priorities, and also explored what industry practitioners should anticipate in the coming year.
Jan joined “Reading the Signals: SEC Exams and Enforcement After Year One,” which brought together current and former senior regulators to break down what recent changes mean for fund advisers and compliance teams and to consider whether the next chapter in examinations and enforcement will introduce bold new plotlines or stick to the familiar script.
As a former deputy chief counsel and associate director of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management, Sara has over 25 years of experience providing guidance under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and Investment Advisers Act of 1940 to the asset management industry. She provides counsel on the most pressing issues impacting the markets, including those related to independent trustees, mutual funds, money market funds, closed-end funds and exchange-traded funds as well as stand-alone advisers.
Jan, a former supervisory assistant chief litigation counsel in the SEC’s Enforcement Division, has led and successfully litigated many of the financial service industry’s most complex and high-profile cases. She focuses her practice on assisting firms and individuals in navigating internal investigations, regulatory enforcement matters, examinations and deficiency letter responses, commercial disputes and, when necessary, arbitration, mediation and trial.
