PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Fund Alliance (PFA), a group of Philadelphia-based asset management industry professionals, has raised $125,000 in support of PhillySafe, an organization that seeks to make place-based investments with proven crime-deterrent solutions. The funds — raised at PFA’s recent annual fundraising gala — will go toward PhillySafe’s mission to reduce crime in disinvested neighborhoods through street cleaning, greening, lighting and resident-owned home security systems.

“Our gift to PhillySafe will bring additional safety and security into the lives of hundreds of Philadelphians,” said Bruce Leto, member of PFA’s steering committee and co-chair of Stradley Ronon’s investment management practice. “We are extremely grateful to the PFA steering committee members and sponsoring companies for their generous support.”

"The donation from the Philadelphia Fund Alliance provides life-changing features such as lighting, green space and home security into neighborhoods whose residents experience high rates of crime,” said PhillySafe co-founder and chairman Bob Kothari. “These improvements are shown to cause a lower rate of gun violence in the areas of focus, bringing greater safety and improving quality of life for residents.”

When considering this year’s charity beneficiary, PFA was introduced to three other charitable organizations aimed at preventing and reducing gun violence, who will also each receive $1,000 in donations to support their efforts. CeaseFirePA Education Fund builds awareness about the impact of gun violence in Pennsylvania and Mothers in Charge focuses on violence prevention, education and intervention. Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia aims to reduce the cycle of violence in the Philadelphia area by providing support and counseling to victims and their families.

Last year, the event raised a total of $125,000 to support Commonwealth Youthchoirs, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that transforms the lives of young people through the power of music.

This year’s PFA gala sponsors included Cohen & Co.; Deloitte; EY; Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath; Glenmede Investment Management; KPMG; Lovell Minnick Partners; Macquarie Investment Management; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; PwC; SEI; Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young; Tait Weller; and Troutman Pepper.
