Stradley Ronon Partner Mike Engle Presents on Increased Crypto-Related Prosecutions

PHILADELPHIA – Partner Michael Engle, co-chair of Stradley Ronon’s white-collar defense, internal investigations and corporate compliance practice, moderated and presented a panel at the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL)’s 2023 White Collar Practice Seminar on Nov. 17 in Philadelphia. Stradley Ronon served as a sponsor of the event.

 

During the presentation, “Crypto Enforcement Unlimited – Analyzing the Wide Variety of Current Prosecutions & Regulatory Enforcement Proceedings Targeting the Crypto Industry,” Mike discussed the growth of proceedings against crypto-involved actors and defense strategies applicable to crypto cases. The panel also covered matters involving insider trading and the sales of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrency, crypto money-laundering charges, cases against cryptocurrency exchanges for selling unregistered securities, and multi-charge cases targeting crypto founders.

 

Mike, a member of PACDL’s board of directors and co-chair of its White-Collar Practice Committee, has more than 20 years of experience handling complex criminal cases, internal investigations and compliance matters. He handles a variety of civil litigation matters, especially the defense of False Claims Act or qui tam actions. In addition, Mike frequently represents clients in government inquiries involving antitrust laws, criminal/civil tax matters and criminal/civil securities cases.
