Overview

For more than three decades, Neal Robb has represented financial services firms and their executives in a broad array of complex and high-stakes commercial and general business litigation. He routinely defends securities firms, investment banks, credit card issuers, lenders, brokers and financial advisers in judicial and arbitration proceedings.

Clients turn to Neal for his breadth of experience before state and federal courts, private arbitrators and arbitration forums, including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), JAMS and the American Arbitration Association (AAA). He has also secured significant results in class actions, unfair and deceptive practices matters, and private attorneys general actions.

Neal presents on relevant trends and developments for securities firms and industry groups. He also previously served as judge pro tem for the Los Angeles County Municipal Court.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a significant financial services company in vacating a large FINRA arbitration award based on the lead arbitrator’s failure to disclose prior representation of a victim of alleged financial abuse. California’s 2nd District Court of Appeal affirmed the lower court’s decision and awarded the client its costs on appeal.*
  • Secured a favorable defense award on behalf of a global investment bank after a 36-day AAA hearing involving an $8.5 million claim against the client, ultimately resulting in a net recovery of $4.1 million.*
  • Represented an asset management company and the named financial adviser in a FINRA arbitration brought by an investor claiming fraudulent inducement. The panel denied the claim and assessed more than 90% of the forum fees and costs against the investor.*

An active supporter of causes related to autism and other developmental disabilities, Neal is a member of the National Council of Visitors of the U.C. Davis MIND Institute, a clinical and educational center dedicated to advancing research into the causes and treatments for autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Neal is a former director and two-time president of the Fragile X Association of Southern California, a nonprofit raising awareness of the genetic disorder fragile X syndrome. He also previously served on the board of directors for Able ARTS Work, which provides inclusive creative arts opportunities and services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
