Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration Virtual Event
The Intersection of Arts, Activism & the Law — A Conversation with Simon Tam

May 11, 2021
1-2:30 p.m. EDT

In Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, You’re Invited to Join Us for a Virtual Event with Simon Tam

Simon Tam
Author, musician, speaker and founder of The Slants and The Slants Foundation

Simon Tam found himself thrust into the spotlight when his all Asian-American rock band — The Slants — had a trademark on its name denied because it was considered “disparaging” to Asian-Americans. At this presentation, Simon will share the story of how his trademark battle took him all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, how he unexpectedly became a racial justice activist, and how he dedicated his life to helping to expand civil liberties for diverse people across the nation. Simon’s work has been highlighted in media features around the world, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
