Steve Feinour, Michael Mundt & Mark Sheehan Discuss Converting Mutual Funds into ETFs

PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon investment management partners J. Stephen Feinour Jr., Michael W. Mundt and Mark A. Sheehan served as panelists for a thought leadership session entitled “Converting Mutual Funds into ETFs” at the Independent Directors Council’s 2021 Virtual Fund Directors Workshop on June 3. The session covered issues related to the conversion of mutual funds to ETFs, including a discussion of regulatory and operational hurdles, as well as relevant board considerations.

Feinour is a partner in Stradley Ronon’s investment management group and counsels investment companies and investment advisers in connection with various regulatory, compliance and transactional issues. He regularly advises clients on matters such as the formation, registration and ongoing regulation of investment companies, including index-based and actively managed ETFs.

Mundt is nationally recognized for his work in the area of ETFs. He assists clients with all phases of the complex regulatory process required to introduce and operate index-based and actively managed ETFs, as well as next-generation exchange-traded products. More generally, he counsels investment advisers and investment companies on a wide range of issues arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and other federal securities laws.

Sheehan focuses his practice on investment management law and complex securities law issues for investment companies and their boards of directors/trustees, investment advisers, broker-dealers and other investment management industry participants. He represents investment companies and investment advisers and provides counsel on a wide variety of regulatory, legal, operational and compliance matters arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
